Grady Edward Cooper

Grady Edward Cooper, 75, of Concord, North Carolina, died July 9, 2021, at Patriot Health in Concord.

Ed was born in Millingport, NC, on October 16, 1945, the son of Grady and Maude Harrington Cooper. He spent his early years there before he moved to Charlotte. Ed graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and went on to CPCC where he obtained his associates degree. Blessed with a talent to use his hands, he worked as a tool and die maker for many years, most recently for Pelton and Crane where he ultimately retired from after 30 years of service. Grady continued to work an additional 10 years doing contract work for Pelton and Crane.

At the ripe old age of 15, Ed met Ms. Brenda Liles at a birthday party. They went on to date and later, married on August 10, 1964. Together, they lived in Charlotte before moving to Concord in 1978. When not working, Ed enjoyed woodworking, tool and die making , along with gardening. He and Brenda also enjoyed square dancing and were part of the Swinging Mallards Square Dance Club. Most of all, Ed loved to be around friends and family.

Ed is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Brenda, of Concord: a son, Kenneth Cooper of Townville, SC; and four grandchildren: Kenneth Cooper, Ashley (husband Brien) Hunter, Tony Fowler and Kayden Cooper. He is further survived by several very special nieces and nephews. Grady was preceded in death by his parents,one brother and two sisters and his daughter, Donna Fowler.

Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home has been given the privilege of caring for Ed and his family. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 13, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 PM. Following the service, Ed will be taken in procession to his final place of earthly rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte.

In honor of Ed, any memorials in his name would be appreciated to the Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
