Hallie Welch-Cheek
February 2, 1934 - February 13, 2026 (Age 92)
LaVale, MD-Hallie Jean Welch-Cheek, 92, of LaVale, MD passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Mountain City Rehab Center.
Born February 3, 1934 in Orange, VA, Hallie was the daughter of the late Aaron Roberts and Leona (Hammons) Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her husbands: Ted Greer, Hoyt “Cliff” Welch, and Clarence Cheek; her brother: Joe Roberts; her sister: Ella “Toots” Baker; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Hallie retired from Allegany County Public Schools where she was a cafeteria worker at several schools during her career. After retirement, she watched several of her grandchildren and loved and enjoyed every moment with them. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved her church and loved God. Hallie not only liked gardening, walking, sewing and crocheting but she also loved to shop, travel, and sit with her friends at McDonald’s.
Hallie is survived by her children: David Greer and wife Joyce; Angela Welch and husband Kris Montana; and Gary Welch and wife Donna; her grandchildren: David Greer and wife Rain; Stacey Yates and husband Jason; Catherine, Gwen, and Finn Morton; Violet Montana, and Michael and David Welch; as well as her great-grandchildren: Paige, Mya, Lucas, and Piper. She is also survived by several step-children and their families as well as numerous additional family members.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Phil Cheek officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
