Hazel Reid

August 17, 1933 – August 23, 2026 (Age 93)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Hazel Reid, who departed this life peacefully at her home in Stanfield, NC, on August 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 17, 1933, Hazel graced this world with her warmth and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Hazel was the cherished daughter of the late Sam Ezzelle and Mary Gladden. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bobby Reid, with whom she shared 65 years of a beautiful marriage filled with love and laughter. Together, they built a life rich in joy and companionship, their bond serving as an inspiration to all.

A proud graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, Class of 1951, Hazel began her professional journey at Southern Bell, where she dedicated over three decades of her life from 1953 to 1985. Following her tenure there, she joined her husband at Dixie Sewing Machine Company, where she continued to work until her retirement. Hazel was an embodiment of diligence and commitment, traits that defined her career and personal endeavors alike.

Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a steadfast member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Hazel was actively involved in Sunday School and the Women's Missionary Union, where her leadership and kindness shone brightly. Her gift for making everyone feel welcome and her generosity touched countless lives within the community.

Hazel had a love for reading and shopping, and she cherished the moments spent at auctions with her husband. Above all, it was her family that brought her the greatest joy, and she delighted in the time spent with them. Though she had no grandchildren, her nurturing spirit extended to all the younger members of her family and church community.

She is lovingly survived by her sisters, Betty Dockins, Juanita Fox, and Debbie Lancaster (Dean), and nieces and nephews Lisa Davis(Joey), Allen Fox(Susan), Danny Fox(Barbara), Katie Lancaster, Jennifer Hudson(Daniel) who will all miss her dearly. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her caregiver Shana Helms and Tillary Compassionate Care for their dedicated support and kindness.

Hazel's legacy of love, kindness, and leadership will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her. In her honor, donations can be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Hazel's own spirit of giving.

Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227, US, on August 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
