Helen C. Hatley

July 14, 1939 - January 30, 2023 (Age 83)

Helen C Hatley, 83, of Charlotte NC passed away on Monday, January 30th at Asbury Health and Rehab with her family by her side. Visitation will be held from 10 - 10:45 am Saturday, February 11 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte. Her funeral service will follow at 11am in the sanctuary officiated by Pastor Dr James Weddington. Graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Helen was born July 14, 1939 in Stanly County to the late Charlie Lester Cagle and Sallie Morris Cagle. She enjoyed crafting, gardening and teaching others. She made clothes, costumes, dolls and bears for her kids and grandkids. She had a weekly crafting TV segment on Top of The Day where she shared her techniques to a wide range of people. She won many ribbons at county fairs and competitions for her work. Helen shared a store at Carowinds with her sister Dora Lee where they made dolls and bears and small crafts for holiday events. She was a member of the Charlotte Homemakers association where she taught women of all ages life skills of cooking, crafting and homemaking. She was a faithful member of Eastern Hills baptist church working with the children in preschool and the nursery where she was most happy. She was a member of the Special Events Committee and loved decorating and serving people for any event needed. Helen worked at CoreSource Insurance Company as a claim processor until her retirement. Mrs. Hatley is survived by her son: Randy Lee Hatley; daughters: Peggy Sue Russell ( Ronnie), Lori Ann Sinclair ( Brooks) ; grandchildren : Heather Sue Russell, Dalton Matthew Hatley, Danny Lee Russell , Casey Dawn True ( Michael) ; her great grandchildren Kylee Elisabeth Parrott, Addisyn Nicole Russell. Her brother Billy Grant Cagle ( Lynn) . She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years Edward A Hatley. Sisters: Louise Burleson, Beulah Morton, Dora Lee Morrisette Diaz, Betty Cagle Adams, Dupree Keel; brothers : Marvin Cagle, James Cagle, Clyde Cagle. The family would like to thank the staff at Aldersgate for all the love and support given to the family and our mom.
