Herbert Gerald Cooper

Herbert Gerald "Jerry" Cooper, 88 of Zanesville, was born July 11, 1936, the third of seven children born to Herbert D. Cooper and Rose A.(Mattey) Cooper in Zanesville. He died 7:34 AM, Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Genesis Morrison House Hospice.
He married Wanda (DeVall) Cooper in the spring of 1961, who preceded him in death March 13, 1987. He was baptized Roman Catholic and graduated from Bishop Rosecrans High School in 1954, where he participated in the sports programs.
Jerry served his country as a veteran of the United States Military. For over 30 years Jerry worked and resided in Brockway, PA, where he made many friends and good memories. He retired in 2000 from Brockway/ Ross Mould Company in Brockway, PA after over 38 years of service. At the time of his death, Jerry resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Doug Huey of Zanesville.
He enjoyed working in his home and his yard. Jerry was an animal lover and had a variety of four legged family members over the years. Jerry was an avid Ohio State Fan and enjoyed watching baseball. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Sherry (Doug) Huey of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Michael (Taylour) Huey of Zanesville and Morgan (Clint) Moore of Newark; four great grandchildren, Addison, Emerson and Karson Huey and Piper Moore; one step-daughter, Brenda (Tom) Forker and their family of Zanesville; one step-grandson, Harold R. Ralson, III of Columbus; three sisters, Patricia Barnes and Sarah Ebersbach both of Zanesville and Rosemary Minear of Red Bank, NJ; two brothers, Thomas (Sue) Cooper of Indian Land, SC and Michael (Kathy) Cooper of Clemmons, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Gary B. Cooper; his step-son, Harold R. Ralston, Jr.; one step-grandson, Marty R. Ralston; one sister, Carol A. Smith and four brothers-in-law, Bernard Barnes, Billy Smith, Edward Minear and Larry Ebersbach.
Friend may call from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where services will be held at 12 Noon, with Fr. Stephen Ondrey officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest beside his wife and son in Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW Post 1058 will conduct full military honors.
