Ida Marie Alderman

Ida Marie (Green) Alderman, 91, formerly of Bowling Green, died March 21, 2024, at Goodwill Retirement Community.

Born March 13, 1933, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora Belle (Fazenbaker) Green.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Alderman, Jr.; a son, Robert C. Alderman; siblings, Viola Mumford, John Green, Elizabeth Beeman, and Clarence H. Green, Jr.

Ida attended Central High School.

She worked in retail and was also a seamstress at Nicky’s in Cresaptown.

Ida had belonged to St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ and their Women’s Guild. She then joined Centre Street United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Alderman was a voracious reader and enjoyed western romances.

Survivors include her three daughters, Linda Maye Widmyer and husband Mark, Joni Lee Patterson, and Penny Upshaw and husband Robert “Buck” ; grandchildren, Bob McKenzie and wife Melissa, Marta Harrigan and husband Mike, Manda Beck and husband Brian, Megan Upshaw, Steven McKenzie, Mark Widmyer, Jennifer Porter and husband Ben, and Mya Widmyer and Calvin; great grandchildren, Lauryn McKenzie, Alyssa McKenzie, Addyson Harrigan, Braxton Stephens, Zane McKenzie, Aurora McKenzie, and Jameson Harrigan; two sisters, Peg Lynch and June Green; and, numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Tuesday, March 26th. from 11 Am until 1 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM, with Rev. Bernadette Ross, officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
