Ila Pearl Kimbrell

Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Ila Pearl Kimbrell, 92, wife of the late Gary Culp Kimbrell, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House of Rock Hill.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Oakland Baptist Church, 1067 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Reverends Jeff Hayes and Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, 620 South Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Ila was born February 6, 1933 in Loris, SC to the late Charlie Mac Powell and the late Edith Mae Powell. She grew up as a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Loris, SC where she was the assistant piano player for church services. She was married to the love of her life, the late Gary Culp Kimbrell for 67 years. Ila received her education from the Loris School System and was a graduate of Winthrop University earning a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught school at Ebinport Elementary School for 33 years and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Ila is survived by her two children, Lynn Kimbrell Buddin (Bob) of Peachtree City, GA, and Judith Ann Mauney (Randy) of Rock Hill, SC; four grandchildren, Kaitlin Kimbrell Whitesell (Chris), Robert DeWitt Buddin Ill, Ann Katherine Buddin, and Elizabeth Ann Ruland (Ryan); four great grandchildren, Alexis Paige Whitesell, Harlie Ann Whitesell, Anna Ryan Ruland and Louen Elizabeth Ruland; one sister, Linda Faye Fowler and two brothers, Bobby Powell and Dale Powell.
