Irene V. Melton

Irene V. (Vybiral) Melton, 83, wife of over 60 years, to her beloved husband Kenneth L. Melton of Douglassville passed away on Tuesday June 17, 2025 at the Reading Hospital.

Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand Vybiral and Frances (Vasku) Vybiral.

She was a proud parent of Melinda Doyle, widow of Robert W. of Schwenksville, PA, Melissa wife of Karl Nolte of Lenhartsville, PA, and Kenneth L. Melton, Jr. and his wife Michele of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Irene's seven grandchildren, Shannon, Kelly, Krystal, Nikolette, Cole, Mackenzie and Blake were the "pot of gold at the end of a rainbow" to her. She always spoke highly of their achievements.

Survivors also include a sister, Marcia V. widow of James Finkle of Sun City, CA and three nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ferdinand (Fred) Vybiral and a sister Julia V. Race.

Irene's 30 year teaching career began in New York State, and she retired in 2003 from the Pottsgrove School District in Pottstown. She was a highly requested teacher over the years, and anyone who knew her can attest to how each child was unique to her, and how she handled each in her own loving way.

She was a member of St. Columbkill Catholic Church, Boyertown.

Irene was an avid Phillies fan, loved to travel with her beloved husband Ken, visiting every lighthouse she could find. Her children and grandchildren were the "apples of her eyes" and brought her much joy. Never complaining, and always optimistic, that sparkle in her eye and incredible easy way about her will be missed by so many.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Irene requested that donations be made to local charities of your choice.
