Isabel Creech

The gates of Heaven have opened to receive Isabel Freeman Creech, born on September 18, 1933, in Hamlet, NC, and who passed on August 17, 2024. Through the blessing of hospice, she was able to be at home surrounded by friends and family.

Isabel was a graduate of Hamlet High School and Homecoming Queen. Also at this time, Isabel and Billy (her future husband) were high school sweethearts.After Billy returned from a tour overseas, the two were married on March 8, 1953. During the 71.5 years of their holy union together, they began their adventures living in Hamlet, NC, where they started their family of two daughters. Due to job opportunities, they moved to Charlotte, NC, in 1958, and lived in various areas of Mecklenburg County.

Isabel was a member of the Chantilly Baptist Church, and soon after, became an avid member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in which she was the assistant in hospitality for 25 years. After her retirement, Isabel and Billy traveled up and down the entire East Coast. They were an unusual couple bonded by love, laughter and the love of God.

Isabel is preceded in death by her brothers Eugene Freeman, Ralph Freeman, Earl Freeman; a sister, Alicey Curry; a daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Creech; a grandson John Wesley Wheeler; and her parents, Thomas Edison Freeman and Naomi Hillburn Freeman. Isabel is survived by her husband of 71.5 years, Billy Price Creech; her daughter Susan Creech Ezman; her son-in-law, Gary Ezman; her granddaughter Denise Wheeler Delaney and her husband Brett Delaney; a nephew Jef Freeman; and nieces Mary Freeman Welch and Nanette Freeman Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Cornerstone Baptist Church with visitation to be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
