J. Robert Snyder

J. Robert Snyder, 92, of Washington Boro, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, in Quarryville. He was the husband of the late Mable E. (Resch) Snyder, who passed away in 2020. Born in Mountville, he was the son of the late Jonas B. and Lauretta P. (Mann) Snyder.

Bob worked in maintenance for the Pennfield Corporation from 1975 to 1996. Prior to 1959, he apprenticed under his uncle and then became a self-employed contractor, building and remodeling homes from 1959 to the mid-1970s. One of Bobs greatest joys was the home he built for his family in 1960.

Bob also served as a Machinists Mate MM3 in the US Navy, upon the USS Norris DD/DDE859, from 1953 to 1955.

Bobs passion was restoring tractors and attending tractor shows; often taking his lawn tractor with a hand-built trailer to chauffeur the grandchildren around. He enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and spending time in his woodworking shop.

Bob is survived by his children: Barbara L. married to Greg Buchko of Millersville, Mark R. married to Bonnie (Jones) Snyder of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Beth C. married to Peter Sterling of Holtwood; his 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; and his sister, Sylvia Snyder of Manheim. He was preceded in death by his great granddaughter Cheyenne Grace, his brothers Paul R. and Horace M. Snyder, and his sisters: Grace A. Shaffer, Pauline J. Arcudi, and Sara A. Osisek.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 1:30-2:30PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:30PM. Interment will be private.
