James "Buck" Kay Buckley

James Kay “Buck” Buckley, 78, of Newark died Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the James Cancer Center. He was born October 22, 1942 in Zanesville to the late Pearl and Mary (Guy) Buckley.
Buck worked as a barber in Newark for 60 years. He began at Plaza Barber Shop in 1961 and purchased it and it then became Buckley Personal Touch until July 2021. He enjoyed playing sports, he was a fan of the Buckeyes and the band even more so. He was a member of AmVets Post 51, former member of the Newark Moose Lodge; where he helped start the annual toy drive, and the Gray Hogs Motorcycle Club. He sponsored and followed Jeffery Lowery a motorcycle racer in flat track.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married July 8, 2012 in Greenup, KY, Patti (Walker) Buckley; daughter, Valerie (Stephen) Deedrick; stepson, Matt Walker; one granddaughter; one great grandson and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Buck’s memory to Amvets Post 51-Amvets Riders, 9293 Thorn Twp. Rd. 79, Thornville, OH 43076 and/or your favorite charity.
Visitation will be Monday, July 12, from 4-8 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
