James Edward Hedrick
July 4, 1941 - May 12, 2021 (Age 79)
Cumberland, MD – James “Jim” Edward Hedrick, 79, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born July 4, 1941, in Cresaptown, MD, Mr. Hedrick was the son of the late Samuel Louis Hedrick and Esther Elizabeth (Johnson) Hedrick. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Lou Hedrick, Barbara Jean Folmer, and Richard “Dick” Hedrick.
Jim was a graduate of Allegany High School and Allegany Community College. He was a former employee of Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Company and retired from the Maryland States Parks HOSTS Program. He was a jack-of-all-trades and was good at everything he did. Jim enjoyed helping others and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening and was an avid hunter and fisherman. The family would like to thank God for the many years they got to spend with him and the wonderful life he provided his children. Jim will be greatly missed!
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years: Barbara (McDonald) Hedrick; and his children: Wayne Hedrick and wife, Suzie; Diane Yarnall and husband, JW; James Hedrick and wife, Tracy; and Heidi Logsdon and husband, Red. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Michael Lowery; Mathew Lowery and wife, Andrea; Melanie Yarnall; Megan Yarnall; Molly Yarnall; Macy Yarnall; Anneliese Hedrick; and Hunter Logsdon; and his great granddaughter: Ariel Lowery. Jim is also survived by his brother: William “Bill” Hedrick and significant other, Cecilia; his sister: Rose Hill and husband, Thomas; special friends: Ron Winters and Jimmy Habersack; as well as nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Gary Barkley and lay minister Robert Barr officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
