James Henry Smith

James Henry Smith, of LaVale, died May 29, 2024, at home.
Born February 21, 1951, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Violet (Forbeck) Smith.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert S. Smith, Sr., and two sisters, Patty Bridges and Ruby Hardman.
Mr. Smith had done custodial work in the area, including the Allegany County Board of Education.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Helen Smith; nephews and nieces, Robert S. Smith, Jr., William Smith, Joey Smith, Cindy Bittner, Debbie Hardman Brode, Shirley Miller, Robert Hardman, Sam Hardman, and Terry Hardman.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Friday, from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Stevie Leydig, officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
