James L. Manges

James L. Manges, Sr., 89, of Donora, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Penn Highlands, Mon Valley Hospital.
He was born on March 28, 1937, a son of the late John and Pauline Semosky Manges. He worked for over 35 years for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport plant. Mr. Manges was an avid gardener who loved planting flowers, especially impatients. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and his sons often joked that he should have been on the sidelines coaching. He loved spending time with his family and being a part of family gatherings.
He was a member for decades of the Sons of Italy and Elks Lodges. He was very witty, loved making people laugh and smile, and was king of one liners. In his later years, he found great joy in going out to breakfast several times a week.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Manges, Jr., his son in-law, Mark Williams; a sister, Lois Thomas; and two brothers, John Manges and Darwin Manges, Sr.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 69 years, Grace (Mendarino) Manges; three children, Linda Williams of Monessen, Ron (Shari) Manges of O’Hara Township, and Tom (Renee) Manges of Donora; seven grandchildren, Marla (Aquarious) Mcfadden, Brittany Irey, Noah Manges, Paige Manges, Bethany Manges, Brent Large, and Alyssa Dryer; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Pavlisak of Monongahela; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Caroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 10 AM until 12Noon on Thursday, September 10, 2026. A blessing service will take place in the funeral home at noon on Thursday with the Rev. Fr. Levi Hartle officiating. Interment will be private at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
