James L. Nelson

James L. Nelson, 77, of Unity Township, died Monday, July 3, 2023 at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born August 7, 1945 in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Victor E. Nelson and Edith (Iams) Coneby Nelson. Prior to retirement he worked for Overly Manufacturing and previously at Coca Cola both in Greensburg. Jim was a collector of Coca Cola items and enjoyed stock car racing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth V. Nelson, a half brother, Glenn W. Coneby and a half sister, Caroline B. Starenchak. He is survived by his wife, Peggy J. (Johnson) Nelson, a brother, August W. Nelson (Donna) of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity where funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday with The Rev. Donna Havrisko officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
