James O. Fields

Rock Hill, SC – James O. Fields, 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at his home.
James was born on June 17, 1936, to the late Julian Boyce Fields and Margaret Annie Grace Wright Fields. He worked for many years as a Senior Estimator in industrial piping and retired from C&C Boiler after 25 years. Mr. Fields was an avid hunter. He was a founding member of Swamp Fox Hunting Club and raised his sons to share in the passion of deer hunting. He also had a passion for fishing and thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors. Mr. Fields was a remarkable story teller. He would often recount incredible stories to his family and they were all true – or based on a true story. Mr. Fields remained very active as he played baseball and softball until he was 55. He dearly loved his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Griffin; his brothers, Michael and Larry Fields; and his granddaughter, Caroline Mundy.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Wright Fields, of SC; his children, Jamie Bennett (David) of Fort Mill, Susan Mundy (Clarence) of Blythewood, SC, Steve Fields (Kelly) of Greenville, SC; Doug Fields (Christy) of Fort Lawn, SC; his sister, Barbara Griffin of Aiken, SC; his brother, Don Fields (Faye) of Palmyra, VA; 9 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Grandview Memorial Park, 620 S Cherry Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made Hospice and Community Care at 2275 India Hook Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
