James R. Parson Sr.

August 12, 1950 – March 5, 2026 (Age 75)

James R. Parsons, Sr., age 75 of Donora, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at his home. He was born in Monongahela on August 12, 1950, a son of the late Clyde and Shirley (McKenna) Parsons.

He was man of strong faith and had a great rapport with God. He was a member of the former First United Methodist Church in Donora where he served as a lay leader and a current member of the Belle Vernon United Methodist Church.

Jim served his country with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Sanvito, Italy for four years as a morse code systems operator.

He was an avid golfer and a huge Pittsburgh sports fanatic. He had a passion for baseball and was a talented player who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles and being from Donora, was able to play baseball with Ken Griffey, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Clare (Kifer) Parsons, whom he married on September 2, 1970. To cherish his memory in addition to his wife are his three children, Jim (Christina) Parsons of Donora, Jeffery (Tiffini) Parsons of Penn Township, and Jana (Scott) Honsaker of Hiller; 7 grandchildren, Jacob Parsons, Noah (Della Fisher) Parsons, Jesse Parsons, Brody Parsons, Joshua Staffen, Sara Staffen, and Makenna Staffen; a sister, Linda Daniels of Irwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. A service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, with full military honors accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
