James Robert (JR) Shockley of Chester, SC passed away on May 23 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.
He was born on December 10, 1940 in Chester, SC to James Robert Shockley, Sr. and Tilda Holden Shockley.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cynthia Shockley, son Wayne Shockley (Bonnie) of Gaston, SC, daughters, Debbie Duke of Florida, Beverly Shuler of Gaston, SC, Marie Tucker of Morganton, NC; stepdaughter, Nicole Plyer of Richburg, SC, and stepson,
A.K. Plyer (Stephanie) of Fort Mill, SC; also, two sisters, Mildred Powell (Pete) of Rock Hill, SC, Nancy Porter (Bill) of Charlotte, NC; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews.
He was very close to grandsons, Bryson and Braydon Brehm.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Shockley, Sr. and mother, Tilda Holden Shockley, son, Michael Shockley, five sisters, Louise Davis, Lee Duncan, Ruth Brooks, Bessie Wallace, and Brenda Traylor.
A Memorial Service to be held at Eastside Baptist Church, 318 N. Jones Avenue, Rock Hill, SC on Saturday, June 21st at 1:00 PM.
