Janet Hontz

Janet Mae (Meredith) Hontz, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 13, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, to the late Walter and Mae (Gradler) Meredith. She worked as a produce manager at Nasers Foods for 32 years. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God. She was a devoted mother, loving wife and grandmother. She also enjoyed playing golf with the Norvelt Ladies Golf League. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Hontz, in 2002; and a brother, Walter Meredith Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Wendy Palmer and her husband, William, of Acme, and Sandy Bish and her husband, Tracey, of Mt. Pleasant; a granddaughter, Alicia Bish, of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters; and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor David Stickley and Pastor Glenn Beatty officiating.
