Jasper Geathers
August 5, 1939 – May 23, 2026 (Age 86)
It is with great sadness that our family must announce that Jasper Geathers passed away on May 23, 2026. He was surrounded by family on this day at Novant Medical Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Jasper served in the U.S Army, receiving the high honor of a Sharpshooter and operating heavy artillery. He went on to gain a college degree and other business accolades and awards throughout his career. His greatest joys in life were being around family, fishing, cooking, and making us all laugh. It was always a good time when we went fishing together, which is a skill that each of us learned because of him.
Jasper is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Hattie Geathers of FL; sisters, Hattie Geathers, Eddie Lee Jones, and Viola Jennings of FL.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta of 61 years of marriage; children, Tracie Famber, Rose Geathers Edwards, Rodney Geathers (Kine) and Kenneth Geathers, Sr.; grandchildren, Terrance Hunter (Stephanie), Kyle, Myles, Kenisha, Kenneth Jr, and Savion; great-grandchildren, Jordan Jasper, Kobe Gerald, and Channing; sisters, Sarah Mae Gallon and Laura Payne; brother, Richard Geathers; cousins, Cornelius “Buddy” (Mozell) Hawkins, Jon Howard, Leroy (Wilhemina) Howard; nieces, Cynthia (Doug) Lucas and Sandra (Isadore) Robertson, along with a host of many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The legacy that Jasper leaves behind is one of loving God, loving his wife and children, having a giving heart and helping others. Jasper was a praying man who lived by our family motto, “A family that prays together, stays together.” Those he left behind are a testament to the man he was and his beliefs.
All family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, for visitation at 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Mount Carmel Baptist Church located at 7237 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. A Homegoing Service will begin promptly at 12 o’clock noon the same day.
