JD Rushing

JD Rushing, age 87, of Mint Hill, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

JD was born in Union County, NC, the son of James Palmer Rushing and Docie Ellen (Brantley) Rushing.

JD is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bessie Jane (Crump) Rushing, two sons, Michael of Charlotte and David of Madison, Alabama, and four grandchildren, Nicole of Harrisburg, Evan of Charlotte, Hayden of Madison, Alabama, and Zacharie of Clarksville, Indiana. He is also survived by his two sisters, Kay Dean Faircloth of Monroe and Pat Fowler of Waxhaw.

JD worked as a textile engraver at Consolidated Engravers for 40 years.

He was a member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church for 68 years and was a deacon there as well.

JD was a devoted Christian who proudly expressed his faith, not only in his words, but also in his deeds. He was a generous and loving family man who led by example. Although he came from humble beginnings, he always provided what those around him needed.

JD enjoyed listening to gospel music in the warmth of the sun on the screened in porch of his home. He was an avid sports fan of all the Charlotte teams, but there was a special place in his heart for the Boston Red Sox.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove-Mint Hill Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. JD will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227, immediately following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Wilson Grove Baptist Church in memory of JD Rushing, designated for Operation Christmas Child.
