Jean Mary (Burrows) Dager passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 15, 2026, at Cortland Healthcare Center.

Jean was born on December 27, 1934, in Ontario, Canada, daughter of Reverend John and Ada Elizabeth Reith Burrows. She graduated from Leavittsburg High School in 1952. She then attended the Carnegie Institute in Cleveland, OH, and graduated in 1956. She worked for St. Joseph’s Hospital and SmithKline Bioscience as a medical laboratory technician. She later worked as a phlebotomist at Forum Health Laboratory for 23 years before retiring in 2011. After being a resident of Warren, OH for many years, she resided in Cortland for the last 3 years.

Jean married James Dager on October 10, 1959, who passed on June 6, 1995. She is survived by her two sons, Stuart (Karen) Dager of Cortland, Roger (Mary-Alice) Dager of Springfield, MA, and her daughter, Karen Dager of Bonita Springs, FL. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Sara (Shane) Dager-Smith, Chad Dager, Alex (Gina) Dager, and Grace (Brian) Littlepage, as well as four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alison Smith, Aden Littlepage, and Mia Dager.

Jean is also survived by her sister, Mary (Wayne) Johnson of Roanoke, VA, and her brother, William (Sharon) Burrows of Cortland, OH. She also leaves behind her one remaining sister-in-law, June Griffin of Warren, OH. Two brothers, John and Robert Burrows, preceded her in death. She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Jean was an active member of First Community Church of Leavittsburg, OH. She was an organist and choir director for 18 years, as well as serving as a deaconess for many years.

She was a very special lady, thoughtful, caring, loving, and fun. At 91, Jean still enjoyed Scrabble with Friends online, coloring pictures, texting family and friends, and watching the birds on the feeders outside her window.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Community Church or the charity of choice in Jean’s memory.

With grateful hearts, we thank the staff of Cortland Healthcare Center for their loving care of our mother.
