Jean E. England, 93 of Bedford, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on December 2, 1927, in Hyndman, a daughter of the late Ross and Catherine (Yohn) Emerick. On August 27, 1950, in Hyndman, she married William H. England and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2009. She is survived by a daughter Lisa Baker of Everett and her companion Gary Beegle of Bedford; one grandson Daniel R. Baker and wife Aliza of Bedford; and two granddaughters: Aflan and Johnna Baker. She was preceded in death by infant twin brothers; one sister Maxine; and four brothers Richard, Harold, Wally, and June Emerick.

Prior to Jean’s marriage to her husband she worked as a Teller at the former First National Bank in Bedford. At a young age she was musically inclined and learned to play the piano by age 5 without the ability to read music. Music became a big part of her life as she grew up. She sang with the Jay Van Orchestra in Cumberland, MD in the 40’s and later the Lorelei Singers in Bedford. She also sang in the adult church choir and was a member at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bedford. She was also a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter No. 41 Order of the Eastern Star. She will be missed and remembered as a mother, grandmother, having a sweet spirit, kindness and generosity.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Brady Plummer officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
