Jean E. Gibson
March 7, 1929 - November 28, 2023 (Age 94)
Jean E. Gibson, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at her residence. Born in Drumore, PA, she was the wife of the late James W. Gibson who died in 2007. She was the daughter of the late John Edwin and Myrtle Louella Kreider Bemesderfer.
Jean attended Hempfield High School and graduated from the former cosmetology school that was located on Queen Street. She worked as a hairdresser with Betty Ruof on Duke Street, then became the owner of “My Lady” hair salon. She retired in 1954.
Jean attended LCBC and enjoyed reading, listening to Christian music, flowers, bird watching, and loved having her hair done. Her family was incredibly important, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. They will remember her as a good homemaker, cook, and baker.
She is lovingly survived by four children, Brenda L. Gibson, Mt. Joy, PA, Brad D. Gibson, Columbia, PA, Beth E., wife of Henry H. Stauffer, Jr., Ronks, PA, and Bryce C. Gibson, Leola, PA, and numerous grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce W. Gibson, sister, Dorothy Keller, and two brothers, John O. Bemesderfer and Robert Bemesderfer.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a viewing at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange Street (corner of W. Orange & Pine Sts.), Lancaster, PA 17603 on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 10:00–12:00 Noon. A private Interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park.
