Jean Hyatt

Jean Evans Hyatt, age 83, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was born October 11, 1939, and stepped into glory peacefully to spend eternity with Jesus at 2:28 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Jean is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roger C Hyatt Jr.; her children, Antonia Hyatt Tomberlin (husband, Steve, son, Brett, and daughter, Brooke) and Tony Hyatt (wife, Joleen, daughter, Jennifer, and son, Josh); her siblings, Charles Ray Evans, Muriel Evans Knowles, William Del Evans, and John Wesley Evans; and her five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Jean was also blessed to once again embrace her deceased son, Alan in a glorious reunion, as well as her late parents, George Wesley Evans and Prudie Elizabeth Andrews Evans. Jean was a sweet and kind woman who lived a life of service to her family, her church (Hickory Grove Baptist Church and recently Lee Park Church) and NarroWay Productions (Christian Entertainment.) She loved art and could have easily made this a career, but chose to raise a family and serve. She married as a senior in high school and went on to celebrate 65 years of marriage. Times were not always easy and her health took a turn 20+ years ago, but she was always faithful to her family, her church and our Lord. God would bring her back from what appeared to be a certain end to her life on more than one occasion and He gave her the will and determination to overcome. In her last years, she enjoyed what we affectionately called her “texting ministry,” where she loved on a group of people, family and friends every day at least twice a day, sharing encouraging words and the love of Jesus. We will sadly miss our daily words of encouragement! A visitation for Jean will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Monday, April 3, 2023, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, with a funeral service following at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Chris Justice will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
