Jean Peifer

April 9, 1960 - July 28, 2023 (Age 63)

Jean E. Peifer, 63, of Leola, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 28, 2023.

She passed away at Lancaster General Hospital with her husband by her side. She lived with End Stage Renal Disease and Diabetes for several years.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Betty J. (Smith) Sharpe. She was married for 21 years to her husband, Mark A. Peifer.

When thinking of Jean, there are many personality traits that could be used to describe her. But one that stands out amongst the rest was that she sure was feisty. A feisty wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. That feistiness made her a fighter and her family loved her for it. There was nothing Jean loved more than spending time with her family. She would attend her grandchildren’s sporting events to be there to support them. She was quite the cook and some of her most enjoyed dishes was her chicken pot pie and macaroni shrimp salad. She also loved to travel. Some of her favorite places she visited were Glacier National Park and Grand Lakes Park. She enjoyed time spent at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Some activities she enjoyed doing was swimming and gardening. In her teen years, she was an avid roller skate at both Overlook and Park City roller rinks.

She grew up in a Christian home where she learned about Jesus’s love for her and accepted Him as her personal savior. She relied on her faith in Him greatly this past year.

In addition to her husband, Mark, she is survived by her sons, Shaun (Sara) Gebhard and Christopher Gebhard; her step-sons, Christopher Peifer and James McNeely; her brothers, Stanley Sharpe, John (Karen) Sharpe, and James (Joy) Sharpe; her sisters, Janis Nissly, Cynthia (Ken Flosser) Sharpe, Jill Rothweiler, and Elizabeth (John) Sangrey; her grandchildren, Brody Gebhard, Amanda Peifer, Brayden Gebhard, Chase Gebhard, Dylan Mullins, and Reagan Gebhard; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Jasper.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Sharpe.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Jean on Saturday, August 12, 2023 beginning at 2PM at Grace Church, 911 Rohrerstown Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1PM to 2PM.
