Jerry J. Smith
January 3, 1947 – March 1, 2026 (Age 79)
Jerry J. Smith, 79, of Fallowfield Twp., went home to be with the Lord on March 1st, 2026. Jerry was born on January 3rd, 1947 in Saberton, WV to the late Harry “Porky” Jr. and Olga (Messori) Smith.
Following high school, Jerry served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Enterprise. After his service Jerry worked at U.S. Steel in Clairton until his retirement.
Jerry was a member at the American Legion – Post 22 in Charleroi, he was a former Master at the Charleroi Masonic Lodge and loved the outdoors. Jerry was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed all his time spent outdoors with his children and his grandchildren. Jerry was a loving husband to his beloved wife Diane and enjoyed every minute spent with his family, whom he adored and will miss him dearly.
Surviving to cherish Jerry’s memory; his loving wife of 59 years Diane (Bachetti) Smith; his children Dale Smith, Lori Smith (Todd Weightman) Pfrogner, and Brian (Amy Keller) Smith. Jerry’s grandchildren; Taylor (Cole) Johnson, Logan (Alex) Pfrogner, Kelsey Smith, Colton Smith, and Kash Smith, and his great-grandchildren; Jack Johnson and Riley Johnson. His sister Patricia (Pat) Panipento and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his brother Barry Smith and nephew Barry Smith Jr.
Friends and family will be received from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. Funeral Service will be held inside the funeral home on Thursday, March 5th, 2026 at NOON, doors will open at 11:00a.m. Interment following the service at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
