Jewell McManus Hartis, age 92, of Mint Hill, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
She was born in Monroe, North Carolina to Ernest and Julia McManus.
Jewell married Joseph Newell Hartis, J.N., on December 20,1947 where they had a loving marriage until his passing in 2015. They had two beautiful children Roger and Carol. Jewell believed her greatest accomplishment was her family.
Jewell worked with Package Products for 28.5 years. She then worked for C&C Service Automotive in Monroe, North Carolina from 1990 to 2005. Jewell also worked in the school cafeteria for Albemarle Road Middle school from 2007 to 2022.
When Jewell was not working she loved cooking, baking cakes, catering birthdays and weddings. She always cooked Sunday lunch for her family.
Jewell is survived by her daughter, Carol Winchester; granddaughter, Christi Schiano (John); and great- grandchildren; Vivian James (Bayley), Olivia Christian, and Seth Christian.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Julia McManus; husband J.N. Hartis; sister, Margaret McManus Candle; and son, Roger Dale Hartis.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow the visitation. Jewell will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
