James R. Arnold

James R. Arnold, Sr., 81 of Zanesville, died 11:45 AM, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Genesis Emergency Department following a sudden illness. He was born Wednesday, February 14, 1940 in, Zanesville, the son of Ivan Russell & Ann Arnold and Beatrice (Spratt) Arnold-Glidden and Charlie Glidden, and married Nancy (Shawger) Arnold.
Jim was owner and operator of Arnold’s Motor Sales, which began operation in 1969. He was an avid motorcycle rider, and was nick named the “Burn Out King.”
Jim never met a stranger and was truly loved by everyone he ever met. Jim owned a home on the Muskingum River and greatly loved the time he spent on the river and on his pontoon boat. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife: Nancy Arnold; four children: Jim Arnold, Jr., Kim (Ted) Ansel, Melissa Arnold and Jay R. Arnold; two step-children: Ryan (Traci) Thomas and Chase (Tanya) Thomas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers: Prior Aelred “Little Charlie” Glidden, and Dan (Cindy) Arnold; two sisters: Marsha (Bob) Young and Diana (Jeff) Mc Neish- Shawger; several nieces and nephews; his two best four legged friends: Bandit and Ella May, and a host of friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents: Frank & Ivy Arnold; his parents: Ivan Russell Arnold and Beatrice Glidden; one step granddaughter: Langdon Jade Thomas and many special friends.
Private family services were held and a Celebration of Life Service for Jim will be held at a later date.
