Joan Murray

JoAnn P. Getz Murray, age (90), passed away on April 5, 2023.
Born on November 4, 1932 to Viola (Kennell) and John B. Getz in Southhampton Township, PA. She is the last of her immediate family and was proceeded in death by her spouse: Homer O. Murray; her brothers: Jay Getz; Robert Getz; her sister Mary Louise Diehl; and her twin brother John Getz.
JoAnn was a loving mother, spouse, generous friend with an incredible shining personality and desire to help anyone in need. She was always involved with church functions over the years, donating much personal time and funding over the years to that which was close to her heart. She cherished the many friendships that were formed through her deep faith. JoAnn was employed as a contractor/driver with the Allegany County Board of Education for over 30 years.
JoAnn is survived by her four daughters: Sue and Ed Welsh; Cindy Murray and Joe Twigg; Roxan and Ed Melotti; Nancy and Brock Arnone. She adored and was so proud of her 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. JoAnn was known as a skilled gardener and had a passion for nature; an incredible green thumb; and a gorgeous yard. She treasured traveling throughout the US and going on several cruises. JoAnn loved being surrounded by family and friends at her home and hosted many reunions/picnics and gatherings over the years. She and her husband Homer were some of the first residents to build a home on Poorbaugh Hill: enjoyed raising a family; and carefully tending their property for over 60 years.
The Family would like to thank the many caretakers over the years who provided loving care in her home; the entire first class staff at Goodwill Retirement Community, our appreciation to them for their gentle, patient professional medical care. And lastly the fine staff at UMPC for their care in her final stages of life.
Family and friends will be received at the Bradley J. Duffy Funeral Home P.A. 1322 National Highway, LaVale, on Saturday April 8, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Harold R. McClay Jr., officiating.
Interment will be private at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
