Joanne Nichols

January 5, 1934 – June 3, 2026 (Age 92)

Joanne "Joy" Nichols, long-time companion of the late Emmett “Reb” C. Emory, peacefully departed this life on June 3, 2026, at Parkhouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was 92 years old. Born on January 5, 1934, in Pottstown, PA, Joy was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Martha (Shanley) Yergey.

Joy forged a fulfilling life as the bar manager at the Holy Trinity Club, where she became widely known for crafting the finest Bloody Marys in the area. Her passion for life was exemplified in her many interests; whether she was passionately bowling, playing cards, or tackling challenging word search puzzles, she embraced each moment with enthusiasm. A devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Joy also found joy in the thrill of the casino.

Family was the cornerstone of Joy's happiness. She cherished every moment spent with her children and was especially devoted to her two grandchildren, Tyler and Tori. Her happiest times were spent driving them to baseball games or treating them to ice cream, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Joy is survived by her children: Renee Talkington and her husband Chuck, Cheryl Palm and her late husband Jon, Deborah Phillips, Kathryn Hoffman and her late husband Thomas, and Ronald Nichols and his wife Sherry. She also leaves behind a brother, Jack Yergey, 12 loving grandchildren, and five wonderful great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

In addition to her long-time companion, the late Reb Emory, Joy was predeceased by her siblings: Shirley, Phyllis, Donna, Irene, Bill, Bruce, and Kenny.

The family will honor Joy's life with a viewing on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Warker~Troutman Funeral Home Inc. in Pottstown. A heartfelt service celebrating her life will begin promptly at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a burial at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
