Joao (John) Rosa Ornelas, 82, of Hickory, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at Trinity Village in Hickory.
Born June 19, 1942, in Guala Madeira, Portugal, to the late Joao F. Ornelas and Rosa Maria Caires Ornelas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 51 years Maria Alda Teixeira Ornelas, and two sisters’.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four sons’: John Ornelas (Cathy), Mike Ornelas (Michelle), Paul Ornelas (Erica) all of Pawtucket, RI, and Luis Ornelas (Fred) of Hickory, grandchildren: Tiffany Ornelas, Justin Ornelas, Jordan Dumas, and Jordan Ornelas, great-grandchildren: Harper Martel, and Beau Dumas, two sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill, N.C. (8901 Lawyers Rd., Mint Hill, N.C., 28227) where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Maria Alda Teixeira Ornelas.
