John R. Mansour II

February 14, 1955 - July 18, 2022 (Age 67)

John R. Mansour II, 67, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 18, 2022, after a 10-month daunting challenge with glioblastoma. He was a beacon of love, hope, honesty, joy, and strength that shone on everyone that came to know him. He was born February 14, 1955, in Greensburg, the eldest son of John “Jack” and Eleanor (Albert) Mansour. John graduated from Greensburg Salem High School class of 1973. He attended the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. John and his wife Christine lived in the Washington DC/Maryland area for 12 years before returning to Greensburg in 1987 to raise their family. He was a life member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Greensburg, having served on Parish Council over the years. John retired from the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County after 29 years of service. He was an honorary life member of Utility Workers Union of America AFL-CIO Local 164. He lived a good life, blessed with two adoring daughters and two beautiful grandsons whom he loved dearly. He was the ultimate Giddo. His life was happy, and he cherished spending time with his family. His greatest pleasures in life were being a wonderful husband, father, and Giddo. He loved the beach and planning for the yearly family beach vacations. He was a master at saying and doing the right thing and he always knew the best way to tackle a project- methodically planning each step. He didn’t like crowds, but he liked people. He never asked for anything for himself but gave himself to everyone. If you were sad, he cheered you up. If you were down, he helped you up. Although his earthly glow has faded, a bright light will forever burn in our hearts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Christine (Spisso) Mansour; two daughters, Adrienne M. Szymkowiak and her husband Adam, of Pittsburgh, and Mallory S. Mansour and her husband John Querio, of Greensburg; and two grandsons, Andre and Leo Szymkowiak. He is also survived by two brothers, Mark S. Mansour (Betty) and Michael D. Mansour (Renee), all of Greensburg; aunts, Helen Joseph and Dolores Albert; in-laws Marylou Altman, Frank Spisso, Raphelia Spisso Muskrat, Ron and Barb Spisso; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 7 PM Thursday at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 1182 Ashland Street, Greensburg followed by trisagion prayers at 7 PM. A funeral service will begin at 10 AM Friday in the church with Archpriest John Nosal officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in John’s name may be made to St. Michael’s Orthodox Church. LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg is assisting with arrangements.
