John Sarnelli

John “Poncho” Sarnelli, 82, a resident of Weatherwood Senior Living, Greensburg, formerly of Jeannette, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, in the RNC of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg. He was born June 8, 1939, in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles and Frances DeAugustine Sarnelli. Prior to his retirement John was a truckdriver for the St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the US Army. John was a member of the Ascension Church Jeannette, and enjoyed woodworking, crafts, bingo, and listening to country music.

In addition to his parents John was predeceased by sisters, Lucy Chiumento, Francis Cable, Shirley Williams, Georgetta Carnera, and Mary Grace Constantine; and a brother Charles “Winky” Sarnelli.

John is survived by his children, Paula Ferrer and husband Michael of Fort Worth Tx., and William “Billy” Sarnelli and wife Michelle of Kissimmee FL.; grandchildren, Sean Kennedy, and Meagan Picard and husband Sylvain; a great grandson Elijah Lee Picard; a brother Joseph Sarnelli and wife Rose of Jones Mills PA., a sister Jeannette Redish of Harrison Park, Jeannette; a goddaughter Jena Redish of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received 4 to 7pm Wednesday in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd St. Jeannette. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00am Thursday in the Ascension Church with Fr. Job Foote as celebrant. Interment with military honors accorded by the Jeannette Combined Veterans will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park, Hempfield Twp.
