John J. Socklege

John J. Socklege, 91, of Herminie, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at RNC at Greater Pittsburgh in Greensburg. He was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Herminie, a son of the late John H. and Catherine (Burzio) Socklege. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madalen "Madge" (Kolaya) Socklege, and sister, Geraldine J. Kleid. John was a veteran of the Army. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Yough School District as a custodian for 25 years. He was a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in Herminie, and was a life member of the Herminie VFD Station 15. John is survived by his niece, Helen (John A.) Kvarta, of Herminie, great-nephew, John L. Kvarta, and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. "Sock" will be dearly missed by his family, friends and special neighbors. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie, with Father Vincent Yee-Concepcion as celebrant. Please go directly to church.
