John Stewart Yandle

March 6, 1943 - June 15, 2025 (Age 82)

Mr. John Stewart Yandle, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Sunday June 15,2025, at his home. He was born March 6,1943, son of the late Josiah M. Yandle and Mary Lois McAnulty Yandle.

John is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dianne Yandle; and was preceded in death by his two brothers Ralph McAnulty Yandle, Eugene Townsend Yandle, his daughter Tracy Nicole Yandle and granddaughter Alexis Michelle Reep.

He is also survived by his children Shelley Y. Fortney (James), John Scott Yandle(Terlys), Dawn C. Bruff(Joey), Michele D. Garcia, Michael Dellinger (Tammy), and Rodney Dellinger.

Forever cherished and remembered by his 18 grandchildren, Cameron Fortney, Kyle Fortney, William

Fortney, Ashetyn Y. Owen, Anisten Yandle, Maria Jose Yandle, Isabella Yandle, Jameson Hicks, Theron Hicks, Christopher Reep, Aynsley Grace Bruff, Devin Stiles, Trevor Stiles, Brandon Dellinger, Ryne Dellinger, Destiny Dellinger, and Jeremy Mclean. As well as his 13 Great Grandchildren.

John was born and raised in Plaza-Midwood area of Charlotte, he was a graduate of Garinger High School and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Accounting at Kings College. He was employed by The United States Postal Service for 40 years as a dedicated employee and APWU Union Representative. John enjoyed staying active and playing sports, he was a goalie in his younger years for the Carolina Tigers Hockey Team. He also was a 2 nd degree Black Belt in American style Karate as well as a Black sash in Li style Kung Fu. He owned and operated a Karate Dojo in Charlotte. John’s favorite hobby was golf, he was one of the 12 original members of the Tin Cup Golf Tournament and served as tournament secretary for many years. His most cherished memory of golfing was achieving a hole-in-one, he held on to that ball for many years as a remembrance of that special moment.

John was known as a dedicated family man, community member and a kind soul. He was the type of

person that never met a stranger and exuded kindness to all he met. John always stood up for what was right no matter the consequences. He was always willing to help those in need, forgave freely, and loved with his whole heart. His memory will forever be cherished and remembered by all who loved him.

A celebration of John’s life will be conducted graveside at Sunset Memory Gardens 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227 June 20,2025 at 1:00pm. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation in John's name to the American Cancer Society at:
