April 29, 1940 – August 3, 2026 (Age 86)

Mt. Savage, MD – John William Dom, 86, of Mt. Savage, MD, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 3, 2026, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born April 29, 1940, in Wellersburg, PA, John was the son of the late Wilbert Dom and Madeline (Kennell) Dom. He was also preceded in death by his daughter: Ronda Fuller; his mother-in-law: Irene Bunner; and his sisters-in-law: Betty Collins, Delores Emerick, and Cindy Dom.

John attended Meyersdale Area High School. As a child he worked on the farm with his grandparents before running the drag lines and then worked as a diesel mechanic for Ryder Trucking for 24 years. John then worked for Cumberland Concrete, and lastly worked for Shaffer Construction. He was a jack of all trades, perfectionist, and an amazing dozer operator. John was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, where he also served as an usher and greeter. He loved to watch the birds and other local wildlife in the yard. John never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. He was a NASCAR fan, and loved talking about old cars. John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years: Edna Dom; his son: Roy Edward Dom and wife, Susan; his daughter: Tonya Fay Clites and husband, Brian; his stepsons: Gary Nichols and wife, Amy; and Robert Nichols and wife, Nancy; his brothers: Homer Dom and wife, Cara Lou; Ray Dom and wife, Kathy; Larry Dom and wife, Kathy; and Gerald Dom; his grandchildren: Greg Fuller and wife, Bre; Derek Fuller and wife, Margo; Ryan Redmond; Tyler Clites and wife, Jelaina; Tanner Clites and wife, Shyann; Stephen Nichols, Creighton Nichols, Brett Nichols and wife, Kayla, Brandon Nichols and wife, Mariah; Bryent Nichols and wife, Teylor; Allegra Nichols, and Lindsey Fisher; and 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be conducted at Calvary Bible Church on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastors Ken Korns, Greg Miller, and Grant Appell officiating. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
