Of Level Green, age 59, passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born the son of the late Joseph A. Blaze, Sr. and the late Helen (Grey) Blaze.
Beloved husband of Jennifer (Sarti) Blaze for 17 wonderful years.
Loving father of Joseph A. Blaze, III, Jacqueline Lowe, Timothy Lowe, and Lauren Lowe.
Adored Pap of Maya Lowe and Eliana Lowe.
Dear brother of Michael (Leslee) Blaze, Candace Powell, and Andrea Blaze. Son-in-law of Geraldine “Gerry” Trexler. Brother-in-law of David Sarti, Steve (Jenna) Sarti, Michele (Eric) Woltshock, and Debbie Rose.
Preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Scott” Powell, and his father-in-law, Victor Sarti.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a 1983 graduate of South Park High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and proudly served his country for five years. In 1992, Joe embarked on a successful career in law enforcement with the Penn Hills Police Department. Joe was honored to serve the community as a patrolman, detective, and sergeant, before retiring in 2020. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #91. For many years, Joe has been an avid hunter, car enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling with Jenn. Joe maintained a strong Christian faith and believed in the Word of the Lord, something that surely guided him through his courageous battle with cancer over the past seven years. Most of all, Joe cherished the time he shared with his family, especially his wife, Jenn, his children and grandchildren.
Friends are welcome on Friday from 2-7 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, PA 15145, (412) 823-9350, where a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. A Fraternal Order of Police service will be held Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Joe will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
