Joseph Andrew Lybarger

October 27, 1957 - May 28, 2025 (Age 67)

Joseph Andrew “Andy” Lybarger, of Ellerslie, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 28, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 27, 1957, in Frederick, MD, he is the son of Janet (Jewell) Lybarger, and the late Ralph “Joe” Lybarger.

Andy graduated from Mt. Savage School in 1976 and then graduated from James Rumsey Technical School.

He retired from Allegany County Roads Department, having been the District Supervisor for the Oldtown Road garage.

Andy belonged to Cornerstone Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Harley Hogs Group, Law Dogs Motorcycle Club, Kennell's Mill Outdoor Club, East Gate Lodge #216, A.F. & A.M.: 32nd. Degree, Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies; and Ali Ghan Shrine.

He was a lifetime member of the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Company, having served as the Assistant Chief.

Andy enjoyed farming, riding his Harley and side-by-side, the outdoors, watching wildlife, and being with his family. He especially enjoyed cheering on his grandkids at their sporting events.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Ceri “Kim” of 44 years; children, Joseph “Joey” Lybarger and wife Amber, Lyna M. Lybarger and husband Sam Rounds, Tara C. Poland and special friend Henry Doll, and Jana M. Browning and husband Caleb; grandchildren, Hailey, Peyton, Bentley, Braxton, Colton, and Joella; an aunt, Joyce Umstot, cousins, and special friends who were more like brothers: Dave Snyder and Davey Landis.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Monday from 5-7 PM.

East Gate Lodge #216, A.F. & A.M. will conduct a memorial service on Monday at 5:30 PM.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM, with Pastor Dave Hattenfield, officiating. Friends will be received an hour prior to the service

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Peyton Poland, Caleb Browning, Sam Rounds, Dave Snyder, Kane Kennell, and, Jason Poland
