Joseph Cononico
November 6, 1947 - August 27, 2022 (Age 74)
Joseph “Coach” Cononico, 74, of Jeannette, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022, in the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born November 6, 1947, in Greensburg, a son of the late Joseph and Mildred Reeger Cononico. Prior to his retirement Joe was a union contractor. He was member of the former St. Marks Lutheran Church in Jeannette. Joe was very active in youth athletics. He was a board member of the Jeannette Baseball Association where he also coached for over 30 years. Joe also was the Vice President of the Jeannette Midget Athletic Association and was the head coach of the 10- to 11-year-old team, the “Hawks”.
In addition to his parents Joe was predeceased by a son Joel Cononico; a daughter Vicki Stinebiser; a granddaughter Katelyn V. Cononico; and brothers, Richard and Eugene Lewis.
He is survived by his loving wife Jeri Schultz Cononico; daughters, Kim Martin of Greensburg, Denise Sholly and husband Robert of Raeford NC., and Dana Cononico and companion Robert Cunningham of Jeannette; grandchildren, Matt (Mandy), Stephen (Tiffany), Alyssa (Bill), Taime, Joe, Jocelyn, Nathan (Courtney), Haley (Tristin), and Tyler; and great grandchildren, Sophia, Stephen, Bradley, Zayden, Carter, Waylen, Jalen, Meilah, and Malani; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Wednesday in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd St. Jeannette. A funeral service will take place 11:00am Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Linda Steward presiding. Interment will take place in the Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jeannette Midget Athletic Association, 123 Main Street, Jeannette PA., 15644.
