Joseph Konkol

Joseph M. Konkol, 56, of West Newton, formerly of Erie, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, December 21, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born July 18, 1969 in Erie, a son of the late Joseph and Florence (Izbicki) Konkol. Born and raised in Erie, Joe graduated from Penn State Behrend where he met his wife Julie. He spent the majority of his career at AT&T. He devoted his life to his family, homeschooling his four children and passing on love for his hobbies: woodworking, gardening, and bike riding. When asked how a bike ride went he’d always respond “there’s no such thing as a bad bike ride”. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Julie (Gustafson) Konkol; his children Megan, Michala, David, and Pete Konkol; his siblings Jacquelyn Toombs, Rosemarie (Tom) Foessett, John (Mary) Konkol, and Paul Konkol; also many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Larry Toombs. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 29, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin where a memorial service will follow at 8 p.m.
