Josephine Scott Moore
December 1, 1920 - April 19, 2022 (Age 101)
Born in Jones County NC to Sally Harrison and JoEd Scott. Jo is the oldest of nine children, five sisters and 3 brother. Preceded in death by her loving husband J.C. (Jake) Moore, her oldest son Jesse C, three brothers Wesley, Edward and Buck Scott and sisters Joan Winters and Francis Whitley.
Jo is survived by her children, Robert and wife Barbara of Kentucky, Donald and wife Carolyn
of IndianTrail, and Ed and wife Sharon of Matthews NC. Also survived by her sisters Geraldine
Deviney, Audrey Rose and Linda Carol Potter. Jo has 8 grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren.
Jo worked at the Tuttle House in Raleigh during WWII. While there she married J.C. a sergeant in the Army stationed at Fort Bragg. After the war she and J.C moved to Charlotte where she was a stay at home mom raising her 4 boys. She and J.C. provided the family with a solid Christian foundation while attending ST. John’s Baptist Church and a strong work ethic helping their dad at the service stations. After the boys grew up some Jo worked at S&H Green Stamps and Delmar Printing.
For many years during the 80s Jo provided home-cooked lunches for JC’s employees and some lucky customers that happened to be there during lunch time at the Exxon Station on Hawthorne and 4 th street. Jo loved flowers of all kinds but especially Daylilies and Rhododendrons. She also enjoyed growing vegetables in their garden and her special patch of watermelons.
In her late 80s and 90s Jo still enjoyed getting outside, taking trips with family and her best
friend Sadie Carr. Jo was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, college basketball
and ML baseball. Her favorite all time team is the Braves with the Yankees a close 2 nd . She
especially enjoyed watching the Braves win the World Series last year!
Grand Children; Donnie Jr, Erin, Jesse, Mitchell, Tara, Travis, Lindsay and Phillip. Great Grand
Children; Isabella, Griffin, Abby-Jo, Emry Rose, Anslee, Landon, Carson, Eli, Lindsay and
Phillip.
The family will receive family and friends from 3pm to 5pm April 24 at TributeTallent Funeral
Home 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road Charlotte. The following day will be a grave side memorial
at Sunset Gardens Memorial 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill NC.
