Joy L. Benson
November 29, 1932 - August 10, 2023 (Age 90)
Joy Louise Benson passed away at home on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the tender age of 90.She was born in Caldwell, Ohio to the late Benjamin Franklin and Molly Dorthea (Cale) Michael on November 29, 1932. Preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Enfield Benson, her brother Franklin Benjamin Michael (Leora Michael), her sister Margaret Mae (Michael) Gehm (Jack Gehm), and many brothers & sisters in laws, nieces and nephews. Survived by her son Michael Charles Benson, her daughter Victoria Joy (Benson) Truck, her grandsons Dylan Lee Ruhwedel and Vincent Scott Patton, many nieces & nephews.
Joy graduated from Caldwell High School in 1950, attended a business college thereafter attaining a bachelor's degree. Her dear friend Donna (to whom became a sister in law) introduced Joy to Charles and they married a year later on April 2, 1955. She worked many years at Bank One (Chase) retiring to take care and spend time with her husband before he passed. Then on to Milano Florist, and Vision Systems. She enjoyed camping, traveling, spending a lot of moments outdoors, attending to her flower garden, her favorite bird was the hummingbird. Joy also collected penguins, loved doing crossword puzzles, watching sports on TV (especially football). She is deeply missed by her 2 dogs of 10 years; Dutchess & Panda.
Joy was a widow for 37 years, yet she lived a very long and happy life; she loved, adored and was extremely proud of her grandson's accomplishments. She was looking forward to her oldest grandson Dylan's graduation ceremony from college next month and was looking forward that Vincent is eligible for 7th grade sports and wants to play football and basketball. Joy will be deeply missed by her family and friends that she has had throughout her years.
One of her favorite quotes from a movie The Bride (with Sting) was when the character Renaldo said "Just follow your heart and you will be fine".
Friends and family will gather at ADVANTAGE by SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, August 17, 2023 and Friday, August 18th from 10:00-11:00am. We will proceed to Northlawn Memory Gardens in Westerville, at the conclusion of visitation, for a Graveside and Interment Service.
