Joy Konnick
December 30, 1947 - January 17, 2024 (Age 76)
Joy Allen Konnick (76), known for her tenacity and love of adventure, passed away peacefully in her Pottstown home on January 17, 2024 after a two year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Born December 30, 1947 in Derry Township, she was the first daughter of George and Virginia (Angney) Allen. As a graduate of Pottstown High School (1965), Joy took active involvement in the planning of class reunions for many years. Over her lifetime, Joy worked in various positions within real estate, customer service, and marketing and administration. Joy had a plethora of passions: hiking (accomplished Horse-Shoe Trail in 2015), sailing (with many years spent on the Scrimshaw and working at the Annapolis Boat Show in recent years), the making and of course drinking of wine (grew and sold grapes to Brookmere Winery), baking and decorating cookies (for whoever had a themed birthday party coming up!). She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, orienteering, and spending time with friends and family. In her last years of life, she attended many of her grandchildren's sporting events, enjoyed live music with friends, road-tripped across the country and partied in Vegas! What a "joy" to see her living her best life! Joy is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dayna and James Lusby of Huntingtown, MD and grandchildren: Brett, Drew and Troy Lusby, as well as Stephanie Konnick of Pottstown, PA, daughter of her predeceased son, Brett Allen Konnick. She is also survived by three siblings: Michele (Allen) Gionet, Marlin Allen, and George Allen Jr. and predeceased by sister, Cardie (Allen) Melnick. Grandchildren remember their "Maw Joy" as a fun, strong, and classy lady always up for an adventure. Celebration of Life will be held on February 3, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Rivet in Pottstown, PA. There will be refreshments and a cash bar; feel free to reflect on a favorite memory with Joy to include in our memory book. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the college funds of Brett, Drew and Troy Lusby. https://gofund.me/cfe09812
