Joyce Brooks Tucker

Rock Hill – Mrs. Joyce Brooks Tucker, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2022, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at West End Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 6:00-7:30 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive family at other times at Mrs. Tucker’s daughter’s home.

Born in Rock Hill, Joyce was the daughter of the late Robert and Kitty Brooks. She was a lifelong member of West End Baptist Church and spent more than 50 years in the choir. In her working life, Joyce spent 19 years working at Oakdale School in the computer lab before moving on and working in the Challenger afterschool program at Mount Gallant Elementary School. In addition to these roles, she also formerly worked at Smith Enterprises. Mrs. Tucker dearly loved her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and singing. She also loved her childhood neighborhood and would affectionately call herself an “Arcade Victoria girl.”

Mrs. Tucker is survived by her son, Mike Tucker of Rock Hill; her daughter, Julie T. Jackson (Jeff) of Rock Hill; and her two grandchildren, Spencer Todd Jackson and Garrett Brooks Jackson of Rock Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Tucker; her parents, Robert S. Brooks and Kitty Wisher Brooks; and her sister, Carolyn B. Miskelly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church in Mrs. Joyce Brooks Tucker’s name.
