Joyce Marie Dittmar

April 8, 1930 - April 10, 2025 (Age 95)

Joyce Marie Dittmar, 95 of Zanesville, died at 5:50 AM Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Helen Purcell Home under hospice care.

She was born April 8, 1930 in Tiro, Ohio the daughter of Irvin Delbert Seif and Mary Catherine Walker Seif.

Joyce was a member of First Christian Church and a 1951 Graduate of The Ohio State University. She was a Kindergarten teacher for over 38 years, serving 33 years of her career in the Zanesville City School System. She had served on the boards of many community organizations including the Bethesda Guild, she was the on the Salvation Army Auxiliary & Advisory Board and the first female President on the board of the Zanesville YMCA. Having met her husband of 61 years on Friday the 13th on a blind date, established her career and met many of her close friends at The Ohio State University, she was an avid Buckeye fan the rest of her life. She had season tickets to Football, both men’s & women’s Basketball games. Joyce was also an avid vegetable gardener.

She is survived by a son, Rand (Diane) Dittmar; 3 daughters, Taflinn "Taffy" (Terry) Tippett, Caprice Dittmar and Holli (Steve) Berry; grandchildren, Tracy (Sarah Meyer) Bennett, Andrew "Andy" (Lisa) Bennett, Blake (fiancé, Cameron Gastaldo) Berry and Boston Berry; Great Grandchildren, Cody (Taylor Gaiters) Brown, Tavin Bennett and Jules Bennett; a great great granddaughter, Ryleigh Brown; numerous nieces & nephews. Joyce was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Richard E. Dittmar; 1 brother & 3 sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, April 13, 2025 with funeral service 11:00 AM Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Rev. Laureen A. Roe officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church Timothy Fund or to the Women’s Auxiliary Fund at the Salvation Army.
