Born in Harrisburg, PA, Judy was the daughter of the late James Rex Steele and the late Faye Green Steele. She embraced every day with a deep love for life, grounded firmly in her faith and her abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her steadfast faith in Him shaped the way she lived – graciously, generously, and with quiet strength. Judy adored her family and found her greatest joy in being a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend. Her devotion to her family was felt through every gift, every kind act, and every prayer she offered on their behalf. She had a gift for making the people around her feel loved and valued.
Her creativity was one of the many ways she expressed her love. A gifted creator, Judy was an avid quilter and a founding member of the York County Quilters Guild, where she poured her thought, tenderness, and beauty into everything she made. Her quilts were more than craft; they were reflections of her spirit – carefully stitched and full of color, created to comfort and bless others. Judy was a skilled gardener and would spend hours in her garden tending to her flowers and plants with the same patience and nurturing care she gave her relationships.
A devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Judy lived out her faith through service, kindness, and quiet acts of generosity. Her commitment to her church family and her love for God shaped the way she moved through the world, with compassion, generosity, and a heart always ready to help. She loved deeply and was cherished profoundly. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in every life she touched.
Surviving are her husband, John Gabrenas Jr; her daughter, Jennifer Beth Gabrenas Adkins; her son John Arx James Gabrenas and his wife, Sedeca Alma Mims Gabrenas; her grandchildren, Asheton Bethany Seamon Gabrenas and her husband, Daniel Mark Seamon Gabrenas; Kaelyn Tiva Renee Gabrenas, and Darrius Nathaniel Gabrenas; her brother, James Rex Steele Jr.; two nieces and three nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy’s name to York County Hospice.
