Judy L. Ross

September 13, 1952 – September 3, 2026 (Age 73)

Judy I. (Sloan) Ross, 73, of Buffalo Township, formerly of Vandergrift, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in UPMC St. Margaret’s Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born September 13, 1952, in Natrona Heights, she was a daughter of the late Robert Sloan & June (Shupe) Sloan.

Judy was a 1970 graduate of Kiski Area High School and worked as a purchasing manager for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas for 25 years, retiring in 2022. She loved her Yorkshire Terriers, showed them for many years, and was the founder of the Western Pennsylvania Yorkshire Terrier Club.

Judy was baptized in the Methodist faith, a foundation that shone through her lifelong kindness and devotion to her family. A vibrant and creative soul, Judy found immense joy in working with her hands, whether she was creating beautiful ceramics, engaging in her favorite crafts, or baking delicious treats. Judy loved the energy of playing volleyball and found peace and happiness spending time at the beach.

Her generosity was legendary, especially during the holidays. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, Judy lovingly baked extra pies and cookies to package and ship to her beloved brothers in Maryland, ensuring they always had a taste of home.

Above all, she brought light and laughter wherever she went. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, Judy could always make those around her laugh with her blunt honesty and her beautiful, rare ability to laugh at herself. She had a deep, enduring love for her family and truly cherished every story, update, and moment shared with her nieces, nephews, and their children. Judy’s warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by all who knew her.

Judy also liked baking, creating wreaths through her crafting skills, putting puzzles together and listening to music, shopping and playing Yahtzee. She enjoyed going to Madeira Beach for vacations. Judy most loved spending time with her children & grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Samuel N. “Sam” Ross; daughter, Marcy (Anthony) Granata of Sarver; grandchildren, Dante (Samantha) & Dylan (Autumn) Granata of Sarver; brothers, Terry (Linda) Sloan of White Plains, MD, Robert (Lisa) Sloan of Port Tobacco, MD; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration Of Life Tribute Service at 11:00 a.m. Please join the family as they honor Judy’s life.
