Julia T. Ickes

Julia T. "Julie" Ickes, 80, of Confluence (Stewart Twp.) passed away Tuesday August 25, 2026 in the WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born October 28, 1945 in Greensburg a daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Marybell Harrold McCabe. Julie had worked in Accounting for Seven Springs Resort and Walmart. Julie was a talented Artist and worked with her family's business "The Stone Pit" in Donegal where she sold some of her own art work. Beside Art, Julie enjoyed sewing, gardening, and she loved going fishing. She formerly attended the Greensburg Church of the Brethren. She will be remembered above all for her unwavering strength, her quick-witted sense of humor, and her boundless love for her family. No matter the challenge, Julie faced life with resilience and a smile that could light up any room. She dedicated her life to supporting those she loved, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and devotion. Julie will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving family, her children Ronald R. Cecchett of Confluence, James E. Ickes, Jr. and wife Yolanda of Herminie, Ronald C. Ickes and wife Judith of Scottdale, and Billie J. Mastowski and husband Michael of Normalville, her grandchildren Cody Mastowski, Collin Mastowski and wife Brianna, Jamie Ickes, Brianna Ickes, Cassidy Kontir, Joey Ickes, and Devyn Ickes, her great grandchildren Ashton, Layla, Phoebe, Weston, Mason, Carson, Grayson, and Addison, and her brothers Melvin McCabe and wife Robin and Chuck McCabe. In addition to her parents Julie was predeceased by her husband James E. Ickes, Sr., her son Michael Paul Ickes, her grandson David Ickes, and her brothers Thomas and Ronald McCabe. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2-8 PM in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc. where a Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tracey McCabe officiating. A Committal Service and interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
