Karen Riley Glover
August 16, 1959 - January 20, 2025 (Age 65)
Mrs. Karen Riley Glover known affectionately as "KK" and "Ma Glover" was born to Willie and Dorothy Riley in Atlanta, Georgia on August 16, 1959. On Monday, January 20, 2025, Karen departed this earthly life surrounded by loved ones and leaving behind an immeasurable wealth of love.
The youngest of five children, Karen was known throughout her life as a bright and beautiful spirit who loved fiercely and laughed often. She attended South Mecklenburg Senior High School after moving to Charlotte, NC. An enthusiastic athlete in her youth, she was one of only two African American cheerleaders on her high school's squad as well as a softball player at her local Boys and Girls club. After graduating, Karen went on to marry her high school sweetheart Michael Glover. She then became the devoted mother of her daughter Aja in 1981 and her son Michael in 1982. Although wife and mother were undoubtedly her greatest roles, she also excelled in her career as an educator.
After completing courses at Central Piedmont Community college. She began by working with Presbyterian Child Development. There, Karen enriched countless young lives for a decade. She spent the latter part of her career doing the same within the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system while at South Academy of International Languages. While there she was awarded the "Teacher Assistant of the Year" before retiring in 2022. Karen also served her community by being a trusted leader for the Right Moves for Youth Organization as well as a cheer coach.
Karen was well known among family and friends as a lover of music, line dancing, and playing softball for the Lady Bandits. Being a fan of the Washington Commanders and shopping, she cherished spending time with all of her loved ones but held a special place for her "rugrat"; her beloved granddaughter and namesake, Kairyn ("CC").
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Willie and Dorothy Riley.
Among the many left to remember her are her husband, Michael Glover, her beloved children Aja and Michael, her only grandchild "CC", two sisters; Pamela Rogers (Larry) and Connie Rogers, two brother; Paul Rogers and Keith Rogers (Marie), 3 brothers-in-law; Bobby Glover (Verlene) Lewis Glover, Nelson Glover (Sonja). She also leaves behind her devoted "Bonus Sisters", Sonya, Wanda, Pamela, Kim, and Debra, and loving "Bonus Daughters", Sharee, Sasha, Ramattu, Erica, Yoland, Nikale, Corinda, Chantel, Angelic, and Tieria, In addition to the above names is a large host of nieces, nephews, co-workers, and very special friends.
